Left Lecce today, headed to Paestum for 4 nights. The only architecturally exciting thing in Paestum are the old Greek temples, which are very well in tact for being thousands of years old. Besides that, there are a few shops, a few hotels, and it was located right near a beautiful sandy beach.
Our bed and breakfast in
Lecce that didn't serve breakfast.
This is the bar around the corner that we went to for breakfast. They gave us little coupons so we could go get a cappuccino or espresso and a croissant (cornetto).
Back on the bus, headed for
Peastum.
Heres the sign for
IKEA that we passed.
The people on the bus go up and down, up and down, up and down the people on the bus go up and down, all through the town. But usually they just sleep.
Pit stop for lunch. There were tables at this rest stop, but there were 3 bus loads of people also, so we sat on the grass behind the gorgeous mountain backdrop, darn.
There were 3 temples in Paestum, the first here is the Temple of Cerere
The center, and main temple is the temple of Neptune. I feel small.
Last, there is the temple for the queen, Hera.
Steve taking a photo in front of Neptune's
There is a museum right down the street from the temples, where many many artifacts were excavated from.
The Diver Fresco. Symbolic of the passage from life to death, the fresco is unique because of its show of movement and athleticism of the times.
Trevor trying to sketch while being surrounded by the local children. This happens to many of us. Personally, I find it more annoying than flattering.
Lindsey and I dancing on the beach at
Paestum And to end our day, Lindsey does some cartwheels on the beach before we head back to the hotel for a group dinner.
