My hunt for the best gelato in Europe. On the way there should be interesting people, places, and my studies, of course.

Pantheon Pentacoste

We have been waiting for this day since we arrived in Rome, the chance to see the Pentacoste in the Pantheon. However, when we arrived, an hour before Sunday services even started, they weren't allowing any tourists to go inside, only people there for Sunday mass...so, we said we were there for mass, and they let us in. Downside? We had to stand through the entire ROMAN Catholic mass. It only lasted an hour, not too bad. Then we were there, in the middle of the Pantheon, for the end of the service, when they dropped hundreds of thousands of red rose petals from the oculus. Bellisimo!

See the rose petals in the beam of light from the oculus?

Awesome.

This went on for at least 5 minutes

SOOOO many petals!

Then they dropped the rest all at once

Firemen standing guard as people rush to the center of the Pantheon to catch petals

view of the center from the floor...a sea of rose petals

And for your viewing pleasure:

A song sung during mass in the Pantheon:
